Grammar notes
Negative Sentence, Positive Tag
After a negative statement, the tag is positive. The helper verb still needs to match the main sentence. The speaker usually expects agreement.
- Example: You won't be late, will you?
- Example: He isn't tired, is he?
Quick Rule
- negative statement -> positive tag
- use the same helper family in the tag
When the sentence is negative, the tag flips to the other side.
