Indirect Questions Stay Calm

In an indirect question, the word order stays like a statement. So we say where she lives, not where does she live. The beginning of the sentence asks the question, but the second part is calmer.

  • Example: Do you know where she lives?
  • Example: Can you tell me where the station is?

Quick Rule

  • opening phrase like Do you know... or Can you tell me...
  • then use statement word order

Indirect questions sound softer, but the grammar inside them stays steady.
