Separable phrasal verbs can split around the object. If the object is a pronoun, it usually must go in the middle. This word order is one of the most important things to notice.
- Example: Put on your coat.
- Example: Put it on.
Quick Rule
- noun object -> often before or after the particle
- pronoun object -> usually between the verb and the particle
These verbs bend a little, but not in every direction.
