Must Not Means Stop (Modal: Mustn't)

Use mustn't for prohibition.

It means something is not allowed.

This is stronger than simple advice. It is a real no.

  • Example: You mustn't touch that.
  • Example: We mustn't run here.

Quick Rule

  • mustn't + base verb
  • use it when something is forbidden

When English says mustn't, it really means: stop right there.
