Grammar notes
Was Not? Were You? (Past Simple: Was/Were Negatives and Questions)
To make a negative, use was not / were not.
To make a question, move was or were to the front.
It is the same little verb, just doing a different job in the sentence.
- Example: She was not tired.
- Example: Were you at the party?
Quick Rule
- negative -> was not / were not
- question -> Was / Were + subject
Small move, big effect: front for questions, after the subject for negatives.
