Already and Yet

Use already in affirmative sentences and yet in questions and negatives. Yet usually comes at the end of the sentence. These words help show whether something happened sooner than expected or has still not happened.

• Example: I've already done it.
• Example: I haven't finished yet.

Quick Rule

• already -> usually in affirmative present perfect sentences
• yet -> usually at the end of negative sentences and questions

They are small words, but they change the timing feel of the whole sentence.
