Use both for two things together. Use either for one of two possibilities. Use neither when not one and not the other is true.
- Example: Both answers are correct.
- Example: Neither door was open.
Quick Rule
- both = the two together
- either = one of the two
- neither = not this one and not that one
These words are small, but they organize a two-choice world very neatly.
