Grammar notes
Not Every Past Verb Ends in -ed (Past Simple: Irregular Verbs 1)
Some common verbs have special past forms.
You cannot build them with -ed, so the best plan is to meet them often and remember them as a pair.
These are high-frequency forms, so seeing them again and again really helps.
- Example: go -> went
- Example: have -> had
Quick Rule
- irregular verbs do not follow the -ed rule
- learn the base form and the past form together
Treat each pair like a tiny team: go / went, have / had.
