I Think or I Know?

Use I think for an opinion.

Use I know when you are sure.

They may look close, but they do different jobs in conversation.

  • Example: I think this song is great.
  • Example: I know the film starts at seven.

Quick Rule

  • I think = opinion
  • I know = certainty

If your idea is soft, use think. If it is certain, use know.
