Ask with Did (Past Simple: Questions)

Use did to build past simple questions.

Put did first, then the subject, then the base verb.

If there is a question word, it comes at the very front.

  • Example: Did you play football?
  • Example: Where did they go?

Quick Rule

  • Did + subject + base verb
  • question word + did + subject + base verb

Lead with did, and your question already knows where it is going.
