🛠️ Building the -ing Form

Sometimes the -ing form is easy, and sometimes the spelling changes a little. Many verbs just add -ing, but some drop a letter or double a letter first. So the verb puts on a new coat before it starts running.

• Example: write → writing
• Example: swim → swimming

Quick Rule

• many verbs: just add -ing
• some verbs change the ending before -ing

Check the last letters first. They are the tiny spelling boss.
